About JD’s Taste of Chicago
“JD's Taste of Chicago” is more than just a restaurant; it's a journey that began in 2007 with a simple idea and a passion for bringing the flavors of Chicago to Madison, Wisconsin. Founded by our family, “JD's” started as a humble venture selling Sno Balls at "Rhythm & Booms," a fireworks showcase on Madison's Northside. With a commitment to quality and a menu that resonated with locals, our small operation quickly expanded to include hotdogs, becoming a staple at events like the “Elver Park Fireworks”, “Badger Games”, “Willy Street Fest” “State Fair”, and the “Taste of Madison”
As our popularity grew, so did our menu and reach. In 2008, we introduced Maxwell St Polishes, Steakburgers, and more at the Sun Prairie Corn Fest. The following year marked a significant milestone as we launched our food truck, taking our offerings downtown and onto college campuses, where we continued to innovate and add to our repertoire. After four years of thriving at events, we realized our dream of opening our first brick-and-mortar restaurant in 2011, JD's Restaurant, located at the corner of Broom St & University Ave. Here, we expanded our menu to include an array of Chicago-style favorites such as Chicken Sandwiches, Fish Sandwiches, Whole Chicken Wings, Italian Beef, Gyros, and soul food options, alongside catering services and a cozy dine-in atmosphere.
In 2015, we took a bold step to rebrand as JD's Taste of Chicago, refocusing our efforts on the food truck model to better connect with our customers. This decision not only revitalized our brand but also allowed us to expand our reach beyond Wisconsin. By 2016, we had ventured into new territories, launching a food cart in Florida and later expanding to locations in Mississippi, Hawaii and Indiana. From beachside lemonade stands to bustling call centers, we brought a taste of Chicago to communities up and down the East Coast.
Fast forward to 2021, and JD's Taste of Chicago has found its permanent home at 2570 Rimrock Rd, Madison, WI, 53713. Here, we continue to sell out at events while offering convenient drive-thru, carryout, delivery, and dine-in options. But our journey doesn't end here. Looking ahead, we are poised for further growth, with plans to open franchises and additional restaurants in new states.
